    As scholars, researchers, or innovators, we cannot assume that major US healthcare legislation, such as the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2015, is altruistic or benevolent, and will or should continue on a forward trajectory from its historical path. It is appropriate that we be skeptical and objectively examine this and its premise.

    The Boston Scientific Connected Patient Challenge is well underway, and submissions are beginning to roll in. The focus of this year’s challenge is Big Data, and participants are encouraged to submit ideas on how to improve patient outcomes, increase efficiency in delivering care, and drive down the cost of care using data analytics. Teams have submitted ideas for their chance to pitch-off at Google’s Cambridge headquarter on March 9, and win up to $50,000 of in-kind prizes.

    On November 22, 2016, the World Technology Network announced Bioinformatix' Rx&You as one of six global finalists for its 2016 World Technology Award in health and medicine. Over 1,000 companies were nominated in 2016. Other 2016 organizational finalists included Google, SpaceX, and Oculus.
